Gathering of Dominican Congregations in Burkina Faso
On February 15, 2025, 38 sisters from 3 Dominican Congregations, namely the Presentation, the Annunciata, and the Little Dominican Sisters, a small congregation in foundation, gathered in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, to reflect on the collaboration and commitment of Dominican sisters in West Africa, particularly in Burkina Faso. They also made decisions to strengthen and revitalize the area.
Sister Julienne Nikiema, Deputy Continental Coordinator for Africa on mission in Burkina Faso, Sister Pélagie KPOGUE, Continental Promoter of JPIC from Benin, and Sister Marthe ABADAHOUE, Coordinator of the West Africa Zone from Côte d’Ivoire, provided a brief overview of DSIC and JPIC to the participating sisters, encouraging them to deepen their commitment and collaboration. This opportunity allowed several sisters to delve deeper into DSIC.
To foster a sense of community within the Dominican family, the Sisters were informed of the date and theme of the 10th DSIC General Assembly: ‘Widows and midwives: where the past and future meet’. The sisters pledged to pray for its success. This was also a chance to remind and encourage the sisters to explore the DSIC website.
