COP 30 Awareness Campaign
On 10 November through 20 November, people from over 190 countries will gather in Belém, Brazil for the 30th United Nations (UN) Conference of the Parties (COP) commonly referred to as COP 30. It is the UN’s annual global meeting where world leaders, scientists, non-governmental organizations, and civil society leaders gather to discuss actions to tackle climate change. This gathering is one of the most important global meetings that addresses this issue.
Over the next several weeks leading up to COP 30, we will share with you key pieces of information about gathering through email, Facebook, and social media. We hope that the information that we share will help you meaningfully engage in the experience of COP 30 at whatever level you choose.
We look forward to you joining us on this important journey. COP 30 is a key moment for Catholics, and all people of good will around the world to encourage governments to adopt stronger, more just commitments to address the climate crisis. Our commitment, as Dominicans is to listen and respond to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. The COP 30 gathering is an opportunity for us to pray, learn, and act in solidarity with our global family on behalf of our common home and all who dwell upon it.
